These are just bunch of random thoughts I've had at 11pm while sick, don't treat it seariously in any way.
So, a few days ago an entire internet got flooded with Jaguar rebranding stuff - at first it was the information, then there were the comments and then came the memes. Oh my, the memes. Whole lot of them. And that way we got the new logo compared to Motorola, the new badge compared to FSO and endless laughs at the slogan "copy nothing". But - why all of that happened, anyway?
Frankly, the answer is quite simple - low sales. The problem got so big, that JLR decided to take radical steps and completely reinvent Jaguar branding, their image and most importantly to reinvent their target customer. What happened next was everything we've seen on the internet.
The criticism got enormous. However, 99 percent of the people hating on it would never afford a brand new Jag. They're just not the target audience anyway. Furthermore, Jaguar got everyone talking about them, so they can count that as a big W I guess.
The thing is that they seem to focus on diversity and inclusivity in their narrative. And then show a big, dumb, ostentatious and impractical car. Oh, and make it colorful.
And yeah, big, dumb, ostentatious and impractical cars can sell well. Even if they're worse quality than a typical Jag. You know what I'm talking about. But Jaguar doesn't market their product towards american tech bros, but, again, the same people who care about diversity and inclusivity. Are they going to get such flamboyant vechicle? Doubt it. Buuut... I'm not an expert. Not even a bit. So I might be completely wrong.
Btw, I lowkey dig Type 00's design.
Yeah.
